Lessons I Learned From My Father…

Senior Father

Some people We face in life  are happiest when they are miserable. Learn to recognize these people and stay away from them for they just want to drag you into their mire.

Surround yourself with people who make you want to be a better a person.

When things are going bad in your life and you feel discouraged – know that things will get better.  Hard times come and go.

Decide what kind of person you want to be and then become that person.

Be still, watch and listen – you learn more by observing.

When it comes to politics… most people are not on the left or the right but in the middle and we all pretty much want the same thing; an opportunity to be all we can be.

Parents should focus on only one goal concerning their children and that is to train them to become the best adults they can possibly be.  So stop making your kids feel like shit because they aren’t perfect yet.  They are in training, be patient with them and teach rather than criticize.

The World is a REALLY interesting place to explore and try and understand.  Explore !

Look for the moral high ground in all situations and take it… it isn’t always obvious and often it is easier and even considered acceptable to just ignore it… but don’t!

Your word is who you are.  If you deceive another, it destroys the basis on which your relationship is based; the truth about who you are to the other person.

Animals and bugs are more afraid of you than you are of them.  It is only when they feel threatened that they might hurt you, so go ahead and get close.

Dogs don’t shit where they sleep.  We should treat the earth better than we do and clean it up, otherwise it won’t be worth living on.

Before you judge someone, put yourself in their shoes… how they were raised and what their circumstances are, you might see things from a different perspective and gain a little compassion and understanding.

Just as you decide what kind of person you want to be and work to become that, decide what kind of world you want to live in and work to make it.  Do not choose a career or a path that adds to the destruction of society.

Honest self reflection is one of the best things you can train yourself to do for your own growth and for your relationships.  Be willing to look at yourself with an honest eye and ask the hard questions.  Have you been too harsh, judging, irresponsible, or thoughtless?  If so, then work on making it right.

Each and every day in your life wake up and ask yourself, “How can I be a better person today than I was yesterday?”  Always be working on personal growth to be the best you, you can be!
